Tubular tyres and width

So I have a new set of the 50mm elite tubular wheels and they look great. I put some standard 22mm(continental competition) tubulars on and they were too thin. You could actually put a coin in the gap each side between the tyre and rim. So, I’m thinking I need to get something wider?
Does anyone have any suggestion to what is working well?
I’m thinking of going 25mm on the same tyres???

Given rim width is 26 at the widest section and the braking distance is 25 mm, your safest bet is to go with 25. Nice choice on the Conti Competition and the 25 mm is only 15-20 grams heavier than the 22 mm.
